A great alternative is electric under floor heating. Unlike wall mounted heaters or some other alternatives, with underfloor heating systems the heat source occupies the whole of the room, i.e. under the floor, and so heat is able to spread quickly and evenly.
Not having radiators on your walls or occupying the space also has implications in terms of interior design. More space to play with can be significant, especially in smaller rooms like bathrooms. Under floor heating works particularly well in bathrooms, and many home owners are making the switch to under the floor heating in bathroom spaces.
